help more Chinese engineers pursue to business development and management roles within their organizations; 3) enhance the joint venture of Chinese owned engineering firms; 4) promote the exposure and power of the entire Chinese transportation engineer society; 5) encourage public participation in transportation projects among the Chinese American community. The first ICTPA-SCC/LA Metro joint workshop was hosted in the LA Metro headquarters on July 29th. The speakers included three top officers from LA Metro’s highway program and the director of Caltrans District 8, who talked about the project opportunities and delivery requirements of their agencies. Mr. Sam Tso of Parsons Brinckerhoff, shared his experience of managing highway and light rail projects over the states. More than 120 people attended the workshop which drew the attention and coverage of all the major Chinese media in Southern California. The ICTPA-SCC/Metro joint workshop is planned to be hosted twice to three times a year. It’s free to public sector employees and students. ICTPA-SCC is working with Caltrans District 8 and 12 to host similar workshops in Inland Empire and Orange County.
